Celebrities are notorious for being really, really bad drivers. Sure, they have to dodge pestering photogs on a daily basis and have busy schedules that require them to drive around town, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have to abide by the same traffic laws as normal non-celebrity drivers. You’d think with all that money and need for privacy they’d rather have a personal chauffeur, but it’s quite the contrary for most celebs. Even near-death car accidents, DUIs, and countless run-ins with the paparazzi aren’t enough to stop them from speeding in their stupidly expensive cars and driving on suspended licenses. So, before you beat yourself up over the occasional speeding ticket or fender bender, be glad your driving record is nowhere near as bad as these six celebs who we think should never be allowed to drive again.

Lindsay Lohan:
If there was ever an award for “Most Likely to Total a Car While Drunk/Stoned Out of Your Mind,” it would go to Lindsay Lohan. The troubled actress has been involved in more accidents and run-ins with the law than we can keep track of. The saga began in 2007, when Lohan was arrested for drunken driving and cocaine possession after allegedly chasing a woman in her SUV. Months later, Lohan managed to get pulled over again and arrested for another DUI and cocaine possession charge. The debacles only continued. Over the last two years, Lohan has been sued for a hit-and-run, pulled over for running a stop sign, and involved in multiple fender benders, including one where she ran into the back of an 18-wheeler. If this doesn’t sound like someone who should have their driving privileges revoked forever, then you must be just as bad a driver as Lindsay.

Amanda Bynes:
Amanda Bynes has quickly gone from an innocent movie star to a dangerous diva behind the wheel. During this year alone, Bynes has been involved in multiple hit-and-run accidents and was arrested for DUI after side-swiping a police car. The 26-year-old starlet even went as far as tweeting Barack Obama, asking him to “fire the cop who arrested me.” Even after all of her driving disasters, Bynes continued to drive on a suspended license until her car was (finally!) impounded. Anyone who isn’t afraid to strike a cop car and drive off is probably capable of doing a lot worse.

Billy Joel:
Billy Joel has had many hits during his lifetime, including ones with his cars. The Grammy Award-winning singer has had his fair share of car accidents, including three wrecks between 2007 and 2009. Perhaps the most embarrassing one of all was when he lost control of his vintage 1967 Citroen and crashed into a house in New York. Unlike some of Joel’s past accidents, there was no suspicion of alcohol or drug involvement in this particular incident; the guy was just going out to get a pizza! Regardless, we can all agree this Piano Man should take a backseat and let someone else do the driving from now on.

Britney Spears:
Whether she’s behind the wheel or trying to get out of a limo, pop princess Britney Spears has had many embarrassing car moments throughout her career. Her most infamous WTF moment has to be when she was photographed driving through Los Angeles with her infant son in her lap. Mothers everywhere were horrified to see Spears driving her car with one hand and holding her son in the other. She claimed a “horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi” caused her to make this bonehead move instead of strapping her child in a car seat in the back. Months later and “Oops! She did it again.” This time Spears reportedly ran a red light with her young children in the car and was charged with a hit and run within the same year.

Paris Hilton:
If Paris Hilton was smart (and we’ve already ruled this one out), she would use her inheritance money to buy herself a full-time driver so she could make her way off this list. But, by the looks of her disastrous driving record, this won’t be happening anytime soon. In 2006, Hilton was arrested and charged with a DUI. In 2007, she was pulled over for driving with a suspended license. One month later, she was pulled over again for driving 70 mph in a 35 mph zone without her headlights on after dark. Hilton was sentenced to 45 days in jail for violating the terms of her probation. But even after doing “hard” time in jail, the socialite managed to screw up again and was arrested for possession of marijuana and cocaine on separate occasions.

Nicole Richie:
Just like her former gal pal Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie has had plenty of driving disasters of her own. The most notable incident happened in 2006, when the socialite was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol after motorists reported seeing a Mercedes-Benz G-Class entering the highway via the exit ramp and driving in the opposite direction. Richie failed a field sobriety test and admitted to using marijuana and Vicodin before driving. Anyone who can’t tell the difference between exit and enter ramps shouldn’t be allowed to drive a car. Ever.
