Van operator licensing legislation passed in Northern Ireland

The Goods Vehicles Licensing of Operators Transport Bill submitted by Environment minister Alex Attwood has been passed by the Northern Ireland Assembly. This legislation is something which the Freight Transport Association has campaigned for, for many years.

Put into action, this system will extend Operator Licensing to all operators of commercial vehicles exceeding 3.5 tonnes. It is designed to improve road safety and environmental standards, whilst helping to nurture fairer competition through tackling organised crime. Legislation of a similar nature has been enforced for many years throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Therefore, this decision will bring Northern Ireland in line with the rest of the UK.

Tom Wilson, head of FTA policy, Northern Ireland: “The final hurdle has been cleared and the much needed legislation has now been approved…We acknowledge the Minister’s support and commitment to making this important piece of road safety legislation a reality.”

Top Insurance Tips to Protecting Your Car While Tailgating

Now that we are finally in the wondrous glow of football season, it's time to get out there and see your favorite team in action. But, if you are the type who likes to spend your days (or mornings) tailgating, make sure you are prepared before making your way to the stadium — and I don't just mean bringing enough hamburger patties for the crew, either. Below, you'll find a few helpful tips to make sure you, your vehicle, and your insurance policy are ready:

Make Sure You Have the Proper Coverage

One of the most common mistakes tailgaters make when heading out to the big game is not having the proper coverage for their vehicular pride and joy. Certain policies don't cover non-driving accidents, or personal property stolen from your vehicle. Remember, crashes aren't the only things that can cause significant damage to your car. Even an errant "Hail Mary" from one of your buddies can dent a fender or bust out a window. Also, leaving the game in bumper-to-bumper traffic often results in fender benders and collisions, so make sure your car is has enough coverage in the event you are in an accident leaving the game, too.

Burn Your Hotdogs, Not Your Car

Nothing ruins a day at the stadium quite like watching your trusty tailgate-mobile go up in flames. With that mental image still fresh in your mind, make sure to keep your grill (no matter the size) a safe distance from your car. Lastly, before packing up, make sure all charcoals and embers have gone out (and disposed of properly), and that the grill has had time to cool before you decide to pack it away in the back of your car. And finally, always bring a fire extinguisher, just in case things do go horribly wrong.

Don't Leave Valuables in You Vehicle

So, you've finished your tailgate and are ready to make your way into the stadium for kickoff. But before you go, make sure you have all your valuables on your person, or safely locked in the trunk or glove box. Parking lots are notorious targets for car break-ins and theft, even if the lot is well patrolled. Some auto insurance policies won't cover personal items that are left inside the car, so that's another reason to tote your stuff along or just leave it at home. Lastly, don't forget to lock your car before you rush off to get to the stadium.

Use Common Sense

Beyond big things like not burning your car down to the ground and getting your stuff stolen, there are a number of little things that are easy to forget during you tailgate experience that can result in headaches and frustration. When it comes to indulging and food and drinks, keep them away from your vehicle. Spending time cleaning your favorite pre-game meal out of, or off, your car is no way to spend your pregame. Also, if you plan on running any electronic devices off of your vehicle, or if you plan on using your vehicle's stereo system to jam to your "classic" Jock Jams CD, make sure to bring a pair of jumper cables along in case you run down your battery while pumping up the tunes. And, if you are brave enough to tailgate at an opponent's stadium, make sure not to put too many giant, obnoxious logos of your hometown team on your vehicle, or else you may fall victim to the wrath of an overzealous fan(s).

Don't Drink and Drive

One of the fastest ways to increase your car insurance premium – or even severely injure yourself, your passengers, and others – is to drink and drive. Even if you just get caught leaving the stadium after a few too many drinks, you could be looking at thousands of dollars in fines, not to mention the possibility of losing your license.

Fantastic turnout for Commercial Vehicle Show 2012

Crowds numbered over 16000 at this year’s CV Show, up by 10% on last year’s figures and an impressive feat given the current state of our economic climate, especially as many of those in attendance were buyers.

Show organisers were more than happy with such a fantastic turnout and just what the CV Show 2012 has proved about the commercial vehicle market- it remains sufficiently healthy despite the decline of other industries in the UK, defying economic uncertainty.

These figures also bode well for 2013, when the Commercial Vehicle will also be able to boast official international accreditation. All this seems to promise an even bigger and even better show for next year.

More homeowners open their doors to lodgers

Renting out a room can be a flexible, tax-free and convenient way to release extra cash from your home

Not everyone likes the idea of a longer queue for the bathroom in the morning. Yet a growing number of homeowners are enjoying a tax-free income boost by taking in a lodger.

Householders can receive up to £4,250 tax-free in rent each year, courtesy of the government's Rent a Room scheme. According to the latest figures from insurance firm LV=, the number of people renting a spare room has nearly doubled in the past five years: 2.7% of UK homeowners now have a lodger, compared with 1.4% in 2009.

Will Your Car Insurance Rates Increase if Your Roommate is a Bad Driver?

By Aaron Crowe

Having a roommate can lead to savings in a lot of areas: Rent, utility bills and commute costs can drop with someone to share them with.

But as anyone who has ever had a roommate knows, there are downsides to sharing a room, or even a house, with someone you don’t know too well. Their poor driving record that you may not know about can hurt your car insurance rates — even if you don’t allow them to drive your car.

Why you’re paying for your roommate

Just as your parents would list you as a driver on their auto policy if you lived at their home — because it’s assumed you’ll borrow their car — the same goes for having a roommate at your home or apartment. It’s assumed your roommate will borrow your car, sometimes even without your permission.

“If they have a good driving record it can help you, but mostly, having additional drivers is going to increase your premium,” says Chrissy Nigro, chief financial officer at Nigro Insurance Agency in Philadelphia.

If you both have car insurance, it may not be necessary to alert your insurer that you have someone else in your house who could be using your car. Still, it’s a good idea to call your agent and ask if they need such information, especially if the roommate may driver your car once in awhile.

If your roomie has had a DUI, for example, some insurance companies might outright reject you as a customer, Nigro says. Others may almost double your rates, she says.

Whether your roommate is a good or bad driver, it’s smart to tell your insurer that you’re living with another driver, and provide their name, driver’s license number and date of birth so the insurer can look up their driving record.

“Every licensed driver living in the household is rated on the policy because insurance companies assume that there is a possibility that your roommate will use your car at some point,” says Lisa Radov of Gebco Choice Insurance. “Therefore, they will charge you accordingly.”

Exclusion OK

You can exclude your roommate from your policy, but that means they can’t drive your car. Some states, however, such as Michigan, Kansas, New York, Virginia and Wisconsin, don’t allow a driver to be excluded from a policy.

“If your roommate is not listed on your policy but drives your car anyway, your rates may increase when the company discovers that there is another driver living in your household and using your car,” Radov says.

“The companies usually find this out when the roommate has an accident,” she says. “The companies may cover the accident but then may go back to the time of the accident or even the beginning of the policy and charge for the roommate.”

Even in an exclusion, if the roommate took your car anyway and got in an accident, you’d have to say they took your car without your knowledge so you can have your car covered, Nigro says. In other words, they stole it. That could lead to a difficult situation at home.

Also, if they’re not listed as a driver on your insurance and they get in an accident in your car, your car and the damage it causes will likely be covered by your insurance, but the medical coverage might not extend to the roommate driver, Nigro says. Anyone they injure in the accident could come after your assets after your insurance limits are reached.

“If they do have a bad driving record, it will affect your rate,” she says.

Lend your car, lend your insurance

One rule of thumb in auto insurance is that the insurance coverage follows the car, not the driver. Whether it’s you or some drunken roommate who crashes your car, your insurance is meant to cover your car if it’s in an accident.

“You’re lending your car, but also lending your insurance, essentially,” Nigro says.

The accident goes onto your record and your rates will likely increase, she says.

If the roommate has their own auto insurance policy and they crash your car after taking it with your permission, their coverage will kick in when your coverage limits have been reached, she says. If they didn’t get your permission first, then their coverage would start first, she says.

If you have a deductible, you’d have to pay that first. Getting that extra money out of your roommate at the end of the month when the bills are due could be difficult.

5 Costliest Traffic Violations for Car Insurance

Getting a traffic ticket will cost you money, but how much will depend on the violation. The worse the violation, the more your car insurance costs may rise because it’s more likely you’ll be considered a bigger risk to the insurer.  Courts will often require drivers with these violations to obtain SR-22 insurance to remove their license from suspension.  It’s difficult to say how much insurance premiums will rise per violation because different insurance companies have different methods of calculating premium.

With the help of experts, including J. Robert Hunter, insurance director for the Washington, D.C.-based Consumer Federation of America, we now identify what are considered the five worst traffic violations for your insurance bills.

1. Driving While Impaired / Under the Influence Estimated premium increase: 25 percent Call it DWI or DUI, a drunken driving violation will hike your insurance costs more than any other, likely as much as 25 percent, says Hunter, a former Texas insurance commissioner. Your insurance company might give you a “pass” on some traffic tickets, especially if it’s your first time, but not on drunken driving, he says. A drunken driving violation will require drivers to purchase auto insurance with an SR22 filing, which can be expensive with larger insurance companies.  Drivers with a DUI violation are advised to consult an insurance agent that specializes in SR22 insurance to find the best rate and coverage. 2. Reckless Driving Estimated premium increase: 15 percent to 20 percent Reckless driving is right up there with drunken driving as one of the biggest offenses that will guarantee a hike in your insurance costs. A precise definition of reckless driving varies from state to state. However, it generally means that you intentionally ignore the safety of other people or property. Violations can bring stiff penalties, including jail time. While speeding certainly may be a factor, you can be reckless without pushing pedal to the metal, according to NHTSA. At least one state, Virginia, is considering categorizing texting while driving as a form of reckless driving. 3. Speeding Estimated premium increase: 10 percent As with repeat drunken driving violations, multiple speeding tickets will bring you increasing insurance costs. Get enough of them, and you can bet your insurance will be canceled, say the experts. Insurers initially may waive one speeding ticket if it’s within 10 mph over the limit, Hunter says. Some states won’t even record the ticket if you take a safe-driving class. But if your insurer doesn’t want to cut you any slack, or you were far over the limit, speeding can raise your car insurance premium by about 10 percent, according to Hunter’s research. Chronic lead-foots also pay higher traffic fines with each ticket — up to $2,000 or more, depending on the state. And some states impose jail time. NHTSA estimates that speeding is involved in more than 30 percent of all fatal crashes — and costs the economy more than $40 billion a year. 4. Running a Red Light Estimated premium increase: 10 percent You break the law when you intentionally go through an intersection after its traffic signal turns red or roll through a right-turn-on-red without stopping.  Expect up to a 10 percent increase for running a red light. If you have a tendency to breeze through red lights, your insurance premiums are probably high already. Red-light runners often have a history of accidents, DUIs, speeding and other violations, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Drivers who run a red light and cause a deadly accident are more likely to be drunk, speeding or driving without a valid license at the time. In urban areas, the most common type of collision involves drivers ignoring traffic controls, including red lights. The institute says people are hurt in nearly 4 out of 10 of those accidents. 5.  Driving Without a Valid License Estimated premium increase: 10 percent Getting behind the wheel without a valid driver’s license is a serious offense that could mean an extended suspension or even a permanent revocation of your license. A traffic ticket for driving without a license can bring a 10 percent increase in your car insurance premium — on top of whatever rate hikes you’ve already seen for the underlying violations that caused the suspension, Hunter says.  According to the NHTSA, one study in California found tthat drivers with suspended or revoked licenses were involved in fatal crashes nearly four times more often than the average driver.   Information source: www.bankrate.com

Tips On How To Limit The Losses On Your Van With A Van Insurance Cover

The main essence of a vehicle insurance policies are to protect against any kind of unforeseen disasters or incidents such as theft, accidents or fire. As a result, if perhaps your motor vehicle gets involved in an accident and gets damaged, your van policy protects it and it’s going to be repaired back to it’s original state. Realistically, car insurance policy is a massive relief for both vans and other automobile owners. Some individuals have this perception that van insurance is pretty expensive and therefore get frightened insuring their vehicles therefore breaking the law. Presently, getting cheap van insurance deal can be extremely very easy if you follow a few guidelines. – http://www.cheapestvaninsurance.org/

A few of the criteria needed for securing a cheap van insurance are: ensuring that you have not claimed from your previous policy for up to 5 years or more; making sure that your van is always packed in a secured garage at night. It is a common belief that only commercial vans needs to be insured but this is not the case rather non-commercial van insurance is important for everyone who drives a van whether for commercial purpose or non commercial purpose.

Extra insurance coverage could be needed for those that use their vans consistently on a daily basis. For individuals and small corporations, vehicles are one of the easiest choice for the moving of products as well as services. Vans have become very depended upon by people and corporations nowadays. In the event that these vans get damaged, then it adversely affects the whole business entirely as movement of goods and services are restricted. In such an ideal situation, that’s where van insurance policy comes in, they would reimburse expenses and losses derived as a result of the damages in addition to getting the vehicle back on the road.

So that the policy holder can be rest assured of not suffering further financial consequences. Before obtaining your van insurance quotes online, always ensure you determine the appropriate cover that meets your requirements and suitability. Whether comprehensive, third party fire and theft or just third party only, paying for a cover you don’t really need would end up costing you more money. Basically, if your premium is less than 10 times your six months comprehensive insurance then you might not need to take out the policy because your van might not be worth taking out the comprehensive cover on.

Some individuals feel they can select a different cover in order to have a cheaper premium but use their vans for a purpose contrary to the purpose they have stated with their insurers, These is very unwise as such acts can invalidate one’s policy. Van insurance brings with it considerable amount of benefits and rest of mind as well against any future eventualities. To help business owners and sole proprietors carry on with their businesses when their vehicle is off road due to an accident, most insurance companies always provide courtesy vehicles for their policy holders.

Business owners most especially benefit from this huge benefit especially those that cannot do without their vans on a daily basis. The insurance of vans includes two major covers that includes comprehensive cover and third party fire and theft. Collision or third party fire and theft entails cover for third party vehicles that are involved with yours in an accident and also covers your vehicles against fire and theft. This coverage is offered mainly for collision with other third party vehicles in an event of any collision whatsoever.

However, in the event of any natural disasters like flood, hail, thunder storms earth quakes and so on then comprehensive cover is the most ideal policy to undertake for your vehicle. A lot of superb advice exists that can help lower the amount of insurance premium billed by insurance firms.

Below are a number of ways to obtain a cheap van insurance-

(I) if you are a good driver, then you can increase your deductible amount and also avoiding any claims in order to lower down your premium.

(II) Installing car alarms and immobilisers do prevent car theft and burglary to a certain extent that the insurance companies are willing to credit you for installing them on your vehicle. Security systems are very effective for deterring break ins and theft and insurance companies give discounts by reducing premiums on vehicles that have installed security systems.

(III) Another great way of acquiring cheap van insurance is by just doing your research other van insurance websites to obtain the cheapest quotes for your needs. Comparing various insurance quotes would help you unveil numerous quotes you never knew existed before.

Clean Diesel Sales Continue to Climb in U.S.

According to Autoblog.com, sales of environmentally friendly diesel vehicles, or clean diesels, are up by 27.5%, compared to sales numbers at the same point last year. The article cited a recent study by HybridCars.com and the automotive research and analysis company Baum and Associates. The study revealed that Americans have purchased 61,214 clean diesel-powered vehicles during the first six months of the year. Perhaps even more surprising is the fact that this figure does not include the sale of heavy-duty diesel pickup trucks. But while the sales numbers are significant, they still do not match the number of hybrids being sold in the U.S. According to the study, hybrid sales are up by 63.5% over 2011’s numbers, and beyond the sale of green vehicles, overall automobile sales increased by 14.9% as well.

For clean diesels, 2012 year marks the second straight year where sales have increased by double-digits. According to Allen Schaeffer, the executive director of the Diesel Technol…

The £2,817 fortune in your attic

Can’t be bothered to clean out your attic? Perhaps the possibility of making £2,800 would motivate you.

The average UK homeowner has £2,813 of clutter going unused in their attic, according to research from the Co-operative Bank.

Common items stored away include books, children’s toys and Christmas decorations. Shockingly, 22% of people have as many as five TVs collecting dust in the loft.

However, few of us appreciate we could be sitting on a potential gold mine. When asked to estimate the value of the goods in their attic, people guessed an average of £559 – less than a fifth of the potential worth.

Surprisingly, some 30% of those surveyed wouldn’t consider parting with their clutter in order to make some cash.

James Hillon, Head of Home and Family at the Co-operative Bank said: ‘For many, just the thought of having a clear-out is a cause of worry, so much so that the term ‘hoarder disorder' has been coined to explain the scientific symptoms and medical reasons behind our hoarding habits.’

But just how would you go about making a little extra cash and break the hoarding habit?

Selling online

Although your first thought might be to opt for a well-known site such eBay or Amazon, there are plenty of alternatives so it could be worth doing your research.

Preloved is a site dedicated to selling second-hand goods and allows you to place a free ad without any listing or selling fees.

With musicMagpie, users can earn extra cash by trading in their old CDs, DVDs, games and technology.

Rather than selling your stuff in an auction, the site pays a set amount for each item – you can find out how much your goods are worth by entering the barcode or the name and model.

If you use online charity bookstore Green Metropolis, you’ll receive £3 for every book you sell – though you’ll need to cover the cost of postage yourself and this can range from 50p to £2.50.

Alternatively, you can become a charity seller and 50p or £1 of your profit for each book will be donated to a nominated charity.

Car boot sales

If you can brave the early start, you could dispose of your clutter by having a car boot sale.

Websites such as Yourbooty.co.uk and CarBootJunction contain listings of sales in your area or you could try checking the local paper to find a suitable venue.

Remember, if you want to bag a decent pitch, it could be worth turning up as early as possible to beat the competition.

Also, be prepared to haggle over price – many seasoned car booters will be in the market for a bargain and might try to put in a cheeky offer.

If your main goal is to spring clean, however, consider lowering your prices toward the end of the day if you need to get rid of excess stock.

Upcycling

This suggestion will perhaps work best for those with a creative bent or a talent for DIY.

Upcycling is the process of transforming items you no longer need into new, more useful objects.

Cutting up unwanted clothing and using it to cover stains or tears on other material is an obvious example. However, you can check out websites such as this for more tips.

New tyre labelling regulations for 2012

Compulsory EU tyre labelling will come into effect in November of this year. The labelling system will show buyers the fuel economy and wet weather braking capabilities and noise levels of tyres. This tyre performance labelling could have an effect on the way in which we purchase tyres and the brands we choose.

Labels will rate tyre performance on a scale of A-G, similar to the scaling labels used on things such as domestic appliances. Therefore, customers will be able to see at a glance whether the tyre scores highly on performance. However, there is one area which cannot be rated on such a simple scale- tyre longevity. The conditions of use, wear and tear will ultimately determine this, but at least drivers will have some indication as to the quality of their tyres.

What supermarkets don’t want you to know

Discover the tricks supermarkets use to encourage you to spend more on your weekly shop.

Do you always seem to come away from the supermarket with a couple of items that weren’t on your shopping list or having spent more than you had intended when you walked into the store?

This probably isn’t an accident and, in fact, you may be doing exactly what the retailer expects of its customers.

With this in mind, we reveal five of the most common supermarket tricks.

Changing layouts

As well as being inconvenient for regular customers, changing the layout of a store is a ploy to encourage shoppers to spend more time searching for their items and probably spending more money.

While you’re traipsing through the aisles looking for a carton of semi-skimmed, you might be tempted to pick up a six-pack of your favourite lager.

Dynamic pricing

You might logically assume that supermarket chains have one price for every item that is applied across all of its stores. Unfortunately not…

Most supermarkets follow a practice known as ‘dynamic pricing’ in which they set prices according to regional trends. This means you’ll probably pay a higher price for your groceries if you live in a wealthy area than you would in other parts of the country.

The eyeline trick

Retailers often place their more expensive, branded items at customers’ eye level, while placing less costly alternatives on top and bottom shelves.

In order to boost their profits, supermarkets spend millions of pounds analysing shoppers’ behaviour and psychology. Based on this research, they know we’re much more likely to opt for items right in front of us than scour the shelves for a cheaper deal.

Dodgy price drops

Imagine you’re in a supermarket and see that an item that had been £6 has been reduced to £4.99. Clearly this is a bargain, right? Not necessarily.

Supermarkets often temporarily inflate the price of goods before putting them on ‘sale’. This way, they can advertise the new price against the previous, inflated price to give the appearance of an attractive saving.

This practice is perfectly legal. As long as the supermarket has charged the higher price for at least 28 days prior to the sale, retailers can market this as a price cut.

Does size matter?

Supermarkets are fond of telling us we’ll get better value if we buy our food in larger portions. You might therefore assume that a 1kg tub of butter will offer better value overall than a 500-gram tub.

However, it may work out cheaper to buy two smaller packs. In order to form an accurate comparison and find the most competitive deal, it’s worth comparing the price per 100 grams.

The UK's most penny-pinching cities

We all like getting value for money, but where can you find the UK’s most savvy shoppers?

With money being tight for most of us, it seems Brits have embraced the habit of scrimping and saving. According to research from Santander, people are saving an average of £346 by hunting around for better deals on purchases such as holidays, mobile phone insurance, clothing and groceries.

The internet is the preferred tool for bargain hunting with 25% of respondents using price comparison, money-saving and voucher sites.

On a national level, these savings have amounted to a massive £14 billion during the past year.

Money-saving hotspots

As part of its research, Santander also looked at which of the UK’s major cities are saving the most money through their bargain-hunting habits.

Hats off to the people of Birmingham who seem to be the most savvy with their finances and save an average of £528 a year. Next up, Bristol and Newcastle were the second and third most frugal regions.

In contrast, residents of Leicester have the least success when it comes to bargain hunting and record average yearly savings of £240.

Britain's top bargain-hunter cities

City/town Amount saved per year

Bristol £499
Newcastle £466
Leeds £420
Cardiff £390
London £357
Manchester £349

Luckily, there are a number of ways to you can potentially secure a bargain on your shopping – wherever you live in the UK.

The great haggling dilemma

For many of us, the idea of asking for a lower price is quite simply mortifying – I’d die of embarrassment, they’ll think I’m crazy, it’s just not very British…

However, you could potentially save a small fortune if you swallow your pride and start haggling – even in large shops and retailers. While haggling may be commonplace in discount outlets and markets, it is also possible on the high street if you can brave the slight social embarrassment.

Remember, you’re more likely to secure a discount if you’re dealing with someone who actually has the authority to reduce prices, such as an assistant manager. Maintaining a polite and diplomatic front could also improve your chances of haggling successfully.

Get something for nothing

By using websites such as Freecycle or Freegle, you could potentially pick up an item that someone else no longer has any use for – free of charge.

From an environmental point of view, these websites aim to reduce landfill waste – though online etiquette means you should also donate an item when claiming a freebie.

Don’t buy what you don’t need

It’s common sense that forking out for items that you never use is one of the most significant wastes of money.

The average UK homeowner has more than £2,800 in clutter sitting in their attic, according to research from the Co-operative Bank.

If you have items lying around your home that you no longer use, you could make a bit of extra cash by selling these online or at a car boot sale.

It’s a great way to discover exactly what’s contained within the policy cover you’re buying and, most importantly, what they do not include. After giving the insurance company any new information regarding your policy, they should now be in a much better state to give you their final quote.

Discuss Your Policy In Detail By Phoning The Insurer

Van insurance being a specialist type of insurance cover can be rare in comparison to all other known insurance. Not every insurance company would offer cheap policies, in particular competitive premiums. Often times, motorists prefer to go with the easy option by dealing with previous insurers they used in the past instead of trying new insurance companies. Nonetheless, if you’re serious about obtaining cheaper premiums you might just want to go deeper.

Being satisfied with your current insurer doesn’t mean you cannot go out there looking for better bargain premiums, there’s a lot to be gained by shopping around and comparing quotes. Not a lot of motorists understands that finding cheap quotes can be inexplicably very easy, what ever type of approach you adopt in finding bargain insurance quotes, your desired outcome is within your grasp.

Getting a cheaper quotation from an insurer, you can persuade other insurance companies you approach to beat that particular quote thereby making your premium even cheaper on the long run. Insurance companies are in no obligation to change the quote they’ve given you, when approached most will categorically decline your request, but it’s just a good way of establishing a medium of communication between you and the prospective insurer.

Proposed Changes To Your Coverage

Bare in mind that your utmost goal is to lower your premium quiet considerably, so you should decide what part of your policy is needed and what’s not, in order to maintain a balance between reasonable premium and adequate cover. Some policies might include other products you really do not need, for instance, step up cover, protected no claims bonus (PNCB), personal injury cover, third party injury cover, European cover, legal expenses cover and so on. There is no need allowing them in your policy when you do not need them.

Obtaining a cheap van insurance premium entails taking out any unwanted extras withing the policy so you can pay for what you require only- thereby saving you money. Don’t go increasing your level of excess by an insane amount, just make sure you aren’t paying for unwanted add- on. Getting rid of all the unwanted optional extras from your policy will help you save loads.

In a nutshell, you cannot discover cheap van insurance quotes or premiums if you do not take out time to commit towards finding it. Irrespective of you conducting researches that involves you calling your prospective insurer or getting quotes from numerous insurers, there are many different choices you could make to get you the right outcome.

AA’s fight for fair fuel prices backed by government

The government has stepped up to help the AA’s campaign for fail fuel prices by calling on fuel providers to give customers access to daily fuel values- therefore ensuring that blanket prices are marketed across the entire country. The AA hopes that implementing this will ensure that the whole country benefits from lower fuel prices.

It seems that oil price hikes are quickly mirrored at the pumps, but any drop in price takes a long time to filter down to us as consumers- let’s hope this changes following these reforms, as the government has promised to take further action against fuel retailers if new regulations are not adhered to.
