Road Rage, Distracted Driving Common Among Daily Commuters

A surprising poll recently conducted by Harris Interactive for the job-posting and career advice website CareerBuilder.com provided some interesting insight into American drivers and their habits behind the wheel. Not so surprisingly, the results showed that as a whole, drivers in the U.S. are an angry and distracted bunch.

The poll, conducted between May 14 and June 4 of this year, surveyed almost 3,900 motorists about their commutes to and from work. Of those polled, the vast majority (83%) drove to work each day as opposed to using public transportation. The poll excluded those who were self-employed or employed in government jobs.

According to Rosemary Haefner, Vice President of Human Resources at CareerBuilder.com, road rage is most associated with running late and dealing with long, far commutes. In total, 58% of all drivers said they experienced road rage during their commutes to and from work. This doesn't mean drivers with short commutes were immune to road rage, though, just that they were less likely to experience it. In fact, only 37% of drivers with a commute of five minutes or less experienced road rage, while 54% of those with commutes of 10 minutes or less admitted to experiencing road rage.

As surprising as it may seem, 61% of all women surveyed admitted that they experienced road rage at some point while making their daily commute, while only 56% of men admitted to losing their head behind the wheel. Regardless of gender, younger drivers are more prone to road rage than older ones, adhering to the stereotype that the older you get, the more you mellow-out. Approximately 68% of those surveyed between the ages of 25 and 34 years old said they experience road rage, while only 47% of those 55 and above admitted the same.

The weather also factored into a driver's likelihood of experiencing road rage. Nearly 17% of those surveyed said that when the temperatures go up in the summer, they experience road rage less. Only 10% claimed that the added heat of the summer months fueled their fury behind the wheel.

While a significant amount of Americans seem to struggle with anger issues during their commutes, the upside came from the fact that only 9% had actually been involved in to a fight with another driver.

Beyond angry driving, almost one in four commuters (24%) has been in an accident while on their way to work, while just under a third (30%) admitted to texting and driving while on their way to work. All in all, to keep your vehicle out of harm's way, keep calm and focus on driving while commuting — and watch out for those who don't.

Ford minibus to support disabled Service skiers

For the fourth year running, Ford is supporting the Combined Services Disabled Ski Team (CSDST) by providing a new Transit minibus which will help them compete in international winter sports events.

The athletes of the CSDST are a part of the registered charity which provides ski-race coaching to serving members and veterans of the Armed Forces who have a permanent disability as a result of active service. Several of the members are double amputees, but with training and an abundance of personal determination, they compete year on year in international ski competitions. The team will use the nine-seat Transit Tourneo minibus to transport themselves and their equipment around the Alps; last year alone they covered almost 30,000 miles in their bus, winning gold and bronze medals in events along the way. They’re currently aiming to represent Great Britain in the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Russia.

Ford of Britain production manager for Transit, David Petts, said;

‘Ford is very pleased to again assist the Combined Services Disabled Ski Team. The huge amount of effort from the team’s trainers and by team members themselves is a great inspiration.’

Commercial van insurance for every business owners

Commercial van insurance for every business owners Commercial van insurance are mainly for vans or vehicles that are used for business purposes only. If you intend using your van for commercial use then commercial van insurance is what is required for that purpose.

The objective of a commercial van insurance cover is for the protection of your van with any content that may be included inside, it also covers your business against any eventualities that may occur in future. However, they usually do not come cheap thats why most prudent businesses set out for cheap van insurance policies to cut overhead.

Drastically reducing your outgoings to a minimum is a viable means for running a more lucrative business, this also includes shopping around for the best quality van insurance policy for your business vehicles that won't cost you an arm and a leg..Getting the cheapest insurance can save you money at the beginning but on the long run you could end up loosing a great deal due to the type of policy you purchased. So it's good to always be thorough when looking for the most appropriate insurance for your business otherwise yoo could end up loosing out on the best policy for your business.

There are various insurance policies out there, but the specific cover that you require could depend on various factors and criteria for you to obtain. Such factors might include the capacity of the van, age and model, period of cover and much more. Most insurance providers will certainly provide you with insurance coverage designed for private, sole trader as well as company van use along with with different grades of protection.Full comprehensive cover, third party fire and theft and third party only cover are the major insurance cover that all major insurance companies provide on a regular basis.

The fully comprehensive insurance coverage is for the protection of every eventualities perhaps that why it's the most cumbersome and most expensive policy you can buy. Comprehensive cover protects against liability for accidental deaths of any individual involved in an accident, covers against injuries sustained and also covers against damage to properties of any party.Comprehensive van insurance also covers against any damage to both you and the third party's vehicle after an accident, protects against theft, burglary, vandalism and also entitles you to a free van when your vehicle is off the road for repairs.Always make sure that if you're going to be living tools and other contents in your van, they must be covered under your policy against theft.

On the other hand, third party fire and theft policy cover would protect against any liability caused by any third party that includes vandalism, fire, theft , any accidents and of course burglary of your van.Third party fire and theft covers unlike comprehensive policy does not honour a claim if the third party to the accident isn't insured at the time of the collision. The last and final insurance cover is the third party commercial cover. Often the least expensive out of the entire three policies and also very basic or simple cover, it protects your van against damages caused to a third party only. It's so unfortunate to note that your business van cannot be covered by this policy due to it's short comings compared to more extensive policies like comprehensive and third party fire and theft cover.

However, if you're involved in a collision, you would have to pay the repair cost of the third party motorists. To fulfill your legal obligation of being legal on the road you can get a van that's worth next to nothing and take out a third party cover only . This will save you money on the long run and ensure you remain legally insured on the road. No matter how much you use your van, you can also customize it with additional add on on offer by commercial van insurance firms. Add ons like ability to drive other vans, being able to drive in other countries whilst being covered, being protected up to your legal expenses all come very handy in the course of your business operations.

Cheap Car Insurance for College Students

If you have a college student heading off to school this fall, the last thing you need to worry about is making sure he or she has cheap car insurance. With all the expenses involved in sending a child to school it’s helpful to pay as little as possible. Thankfully, cheap car insurance is available.

The law in most states is very friendly to college students as it relates to car insurance. We’ll get to that in just a minute. For now it’s important to know that you and your students don’t have to simply settle for whatever your current car insurance company offers you. You can look around and compare offers from competing companies.

Keeping a Student on Your Policy

The best way to ensure the most affordable price for your student is to keep him or her on your policy for as long as possible. In most states, that means age 26. As long as your child is attending college or university during those years, he or she can be included on your policy under the student classification. Check with your insurance company to verify any upward age limits.

Also, consider there might be some residency restrictions. For example, if your child is attending school out of state he or she can remain on your policy as long as they do not continue to reside in that state while school is not in session. If they stay away from home year-round, they may be considered an independent adult requiring their own car insurance policy.

The Car Your Student Drives

The next thing to consider is the car your student drives. Car insurance companies base premiums, in part, on the make, model, and age of a car. They do so for two reasons:

  • liability insurance – larger, heavier vehicles are more likely to do more damage in an accident
  • comprehension/collision insurance – newer and more expensive vehicles cost more to repair or replace

If you want the cheapest car insurance possible for your college student, encourage him or her to buy a car that is older, does not require a blank loan, and is classified as a compact or subcompact. This will allow you to get the cheapest liability and comprehensive/collision rates.

If your student will be living at home and driving one of your vehicles, make sure your insurance company assigns them to the oldest and least valuable car. That’s not to say they cannot drive your new vehicle from time to time; rather, it is to say the older vehicle will be their primary mode of transportation.

Student Driver Discounts

An important part of cheap car insurance for college students are the discounts some insurance companies offer. One of the more popular of those discounts is one given for good grades. As the thinking goes, a student with good grades is less likely to be careless, will have less time for leisure activities, and will take their responsibilities behind the wheel more seriously.

If your student is eligible for the good grades discount, he or she will have to provide the insurance company with the proper records to demonstrate those grades. Those records can be obtained from the college or university they are attending.

Credit Rating Can Affect Car Insurance Rates

You may already know that car insurance companies use a long list of factors to determine how much each of us will pay for car insurance. Things they take into consideration include:

- age and sex of driver
- driver history
- make and model of the car we drive
- geographic location

What you may not know is that credit ratings are also factored in. This suggests that a poor credit rating could possibly have a negative effect on insurance rates. Indeed, that is exactly the case.

The Definition of “Credit Rating”

Before we talk about how your credit rating affects your car insurance rates it’s necessary to explain the credit rating process. In the United States a consumer credit rating is expressed in a number that can range anywhere from 300 to 800, depending on the baseline used.

That number is the result of a mathematical equation created by two engineers in the 1950s. They created the formula to see if they could predict if, and when, a consumer would default on his credit. Surprisingly, their formula turned out to be an incredibly accurate.

When this mathematical formula is applied to an individual, the resulting number is known as the “credit score.” That score tells a bank, store, or insurance company how likely you are to miss payments or fall permanently behind. Most notably, it predicts the likelihood that you will fall behind within the first six months of establishing credit.

Credit Rating Can Affect Car Insurance Rates

Credit Rating Can Affect Car Insurance Rates

Credit Rating and Car Insurance

Your credit score is important to an insurance company because they need to be confident you will make all of your payments on time and without question. They are depending on your payments as a means of helping support their cash position while also giving them some money to invest. If you have a low credit score your insurance company has reason to worry that you will miss a payment or two.

If you have a bad credit score (below 500 is considered bad) you’re likely to see higher car insurance rates. You can bring those rates down in the future by improving your credit score. As an added bonus, an improved credit score means your financial situation is healthier all the way around.

State Laws

By and large, state laws make it perfectly legal for insurance companies to consider your credit rating when determining your car insurance rates. But most of them make it illegal for an insurance company to refuse to cover your based only on your credit score. In other words, it can be a factor, but your credit score cannot be the sole determiner of your rates or whether or not you get a policy.

In addition, if you are rejected by an insurance company, state laws require that company to inform you in writing; they are required to include the reasons for rejecting you in their statement. If you see your credit score as being a factor, you know you need to work on improving that.

How To Get The Best And Affordable Van Insurance Cover For You A

Investing in vans or similar vehicles has resulted in many businesses doubling or even tripling their profits because of the role these vehicles play. No matter the type of vans employed in the running of a business, the law requires that every vehicle must be covered with an up to date insurance policy before being driven on the roads or used for any business activity.

Getting the right insurance coverage for a van can become extremely expensive for businesses, especially those requiring fleet insurance for their numerous vans. So what are the most effective ways for lowering van insurance costs?

Whether renewing your current policy or buying a new policy, one of the most efficient ways for lowering your premium is to take the time out to compare different quotes from insurers. In this day and age, the way we search for information has been greatly influenced by the advent of the internet, and so provide the best place to begin your search for the least expensive van insurance quotes.

Take Time Out To Begin Your Research Online

The days of painstakingly calling and dealing with several insurers at a time to compare quotes are now over. Comparing quotes one by one is a boring and tedious way of getting cheap quotes, but with the use of comparison websites, you can get dozens of quotes within minutes thereby saving you time, energy and money . You would be able to gain access to numerous quotes from different insurers once you complete the form.

However though, not all quotes will be suitable for your needs, you will discover that some insurers will be in a much better position to provide you with a decent level of cover at a low cost rate . Before you completely commit to the insurance quote, it's always advisable to call the insurer and discuss the terms of the policy and to see if you can even get a reduced rate for the policy.

While the net is one of the best places to commence your search, calling the quote provider to lower the quote even further is an ideal strategy to getting the cheapest premium possible. It's a great way to discover exactly what's contained within the policy cover you're buying and, most importantly, what they do not include. After giving the insurance company any new information regarding your policy, they should now be in a much better state to give you their final quote.

Discuss Your Policy In Detail By Phoning The Insurer

Van insurance being a specialist type of insurance cover can be rare in comparison to all other known insurance. Not every insurance company would offer cheap policies, in particular competitive premiums. Often times, motorists prefer to go with the easy option by dealing with previous insurers they used in the past instead of trying new insurance companies. Nonetheless, if you're serious about obtaining cheaper premiums you might just want to go deeper.

Being satisfied with your current insurer doesn't mean you cannot go out there looking for better bargain premiums, there's a lot to be gained by shopping around and comparing quotes. Not a lot of motorists understands that finding cheap quotes can be inexplicably very easy, what ever type of approach you adopt in finding bargain insurance quotes, your desired outcome is within your grasp.

Getting a cheaper quotation from an insurer, you can persuade other insurance companies you approach to beat that particular quote thereby making your premium even cheaper on the long run. Insurance companies are in no obligation to change the quote they've given you, when approached most will categorically decline your request, but it's just a good way of establishing a medium of communication between you and the prospective insurer.

Proposed Changes To Your Coverage

Bare in mind that your utmost goal is to lower your premium quiet considerably, so you should decide what part of your policy is needed and what's not, in order to maintain a balance between reasonable premium and adequate cover. Some policies might include other products you really do not need, for instance, step up cover, protected no claims bonus (PNCB), personal injury cover, third party injury cover, European cover, legal expenses cover and so on. There is no need allowing them in your policy when you do not need them.

Obtaining a cheap van insurance premium entails taking out any unwanted extras withing the policy so you can pay for what you require only- thereby saving you money. Don't go increasing your level of excess by an insane amount, just make sure you aren't paying for unwanted add- on. Getting rid of all the unwanted optional extras from your policy will help you save loads.

In a nutshell, you cannot discover cheap van insurance quotes or premiums if you do not take out time to commit towards finding it. Irrespective of you conducting researches that involves you calling your prospective insurer or getting quotes from numerous insurers, there are many different choices you could make to get you the right outcome.

Higher trims offer a rearview camera which could be helpful when you’re trying to back out of a parking spot. The 2012 Honda Odyssey performed exceedingly well in government crash tests: it received an overall rating of five out of five stars from the NHTSA and a “Good” rating, the highest available, for frontal-offset and side-impact crashes from the IIHS. The 2012 Honda Odyssey also received a five out of five rating for overall performance and design and a four out of five in overall quality from J.D. Power. The Edge’s interior has space for five passengers and a large rear compartment that can store all of your baby’s supplies. The back row of seats can also be folded down for extra cargo space. Similar to other vehicles in this list, the 2012 Ford Edge SUV has received good reviews for safety. Standard safety features include stability control, active front head restraints, anti-lock disc brakes, and front side and side curtain air bags. This model also has a pretty sizable rear storage space and the back row of seats can be set down to increase cargo space. The IIHS gave the 2012 Murano “Good” ratings for frontal offset and side-impact crash tests, and J.D. Power gave the SUV a five out of five for overall quality.

Toyota Prius C:

      • Base (One) MSRP: $18,950
      • MPG: 53 city/46 highway

The relatively compact Toyota Prius C delivers 50-plus MPG in the city, features no fewer than nine airbags, and has more interior room than it would appear from the outside. You’ll have to take a little more time to fit in a stroller and baby bag and the engine can be noisy under heavy acceleration, an issue that might put off parents of newborns. However, the Toyota Prius C’s price and top-of-the-line safety features make it a good option for new parents. The Prius C received “Good” ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for all crash protection tests, and the hybrid model was named a top safety pick for 2012. J.D. Power gave the Toyota Prius C a four out of five for predicted reliability.

Cruise control, keyless entry, and other amenities are offered in the higher trim levels. The 2012 Soul has been updated with more powerful engines, 15-inch steel wheels, and wider tires. The base engine is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder that puts out 138 horsepower, while the plus version has a 2.0-liter engine rated at 164 horsepower. Although the plus version’s engine makes for a more exciting driving experience, the base model offers better gas mileage.

The Kia Soul’s safety features include side curtain air bags and stability control, and it received a “Good” rating, the highest possible, from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for frontal offset and side-impact crashes. Budget minded shoppers will like Kia’s basic warranty, which covers the car for 60 months or 60,000 miles. New buyers also receive a powertrain warranty that covers 120 months or 100,000 miles. J.D. Power awarded the 2012 Kia Soul awards for performance and quality. Although the Kia Soul isn’t the largest vehicle on the list it’s still a great option for new parents who want a fun car that meets their needs for space and safety.

Honda Pilot:

      • Base (LX FWD) MSRP: $28,620
      • MPG: 18 city/25 highway

With enough space for eight passengers, the Honda Pilot is one of the largest vehicles in its class. It offers a wide range of standard features, including full power accessories, split-folding second and third-row bench seats, and remote keyless entry. The higher trim levels offer a rearview camera which can be helpful for maneuvering out of parking spots safely. This car is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that is rated at 250 horsepower and gets as much as 25 mpg. In addition to its standard features, space, and relatively good gas mileage, the Honda Pilot has received high marks for its safety. The SUV, which comes with side curtain air bags for all three rows, received a frontal crash rating of four out of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. J.D. Power gave the 2012 Honda Pilot high marks for its overall quality and performance and design. Due to its size this may not be an ideal option for new parents, but could be a wise investment if the space is going to be needed in the future.

How to Avoid Buying a Flood Damaged Vehicle

Flooded cars can be a nightmare for their owners.

Flooded cars can be a nightmare for their owners. (image via Gawker.com)

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

You’ve driven up to a car dealership. They have a few rows of cars of the specific make and model you’ve been interested in. They are each the current model year or perhaps just a model year behind. They all have low miles, but they’re not “new” cars. And the salesperson just cannot wait to get you into one, your choice of color and options, for a price that seems way below what you were expecting based on your research of the model.

But more than that seems “off” about some of these cars. Some of them seem to smell funny – a bitter, biting and musty smell greets your olfactory system as soon as you open the door, and there’s also a hint of “new car smell” spray and shampoo. In fact, it’s almost as if too much of that spray and shampoo smell has been applied to disguise the musty smells, and they all coalesce into a horrible shock to your senses.

“Don’t worry about that,” says your salesperson. “It’ll be gone in no time.”

Chances are, you might be about to purchase a vehicle that has been flooded.

Before we go further – it is possible to restore and refurbish a car that has been flooded, but it is not for the faint of heart. It requires disassembly of most of the interior, and replacement of all carpets, padding and upholstery. All electrical connections must be replaced. It is by no means a simple undertaking, and it must be done properly for the car to have any serviceable life. And you should know upfront what you’re buying and how detailed the restoration process is, not to mention exactly how the car was flooded. It may have been exposed to water filled with sewage, salt-water or perhaps the windows were down during a torrential downpour. It’s highly unlikely you will ever know.

While some may consider the savings on a flooded car worth the potential risks – just like many do with other automobiles with a salvage title – for most of us, they’re an experience best avoided. Here’s what you need to look for if you believe a car has been subjected to flooding in the past.

Check the Car’s Title.

Your first consideration should be the title. If the car has a clear, rather than a salvage title, make sure the dealership provides you with a vehicle history report based on the car’s VIN from a reputable industry leader, like Carfax, for example.

“Carfax should disclose that if they claim any damage from flooding to their insurance,” said Scott Bratton, a mechanic of 37 years and owner of Auto Check in Katy, Texas.

It is important to note that flood-damaged cars will only have incidents on the vehicle history report if it has been declared a total loss by an insurance company in the past. If the car was not totaled, the title will be clean and the history report may be as well. But the history report is a must, as it is possible for a car to be totaled in one state, and then shipped off to another state where eventually, a clean title is issued for the car.

“I would be concerned if it was a salvaged title. I’d ask why it was salvaged or why it was totaled. That could be due to a flood or a wreck that they went ahead and fixed with cash,” Bratton, whose customers bring in cars to be inspected before they’re purchased, explained. “For the most part I question them about where they’re buying it from. If it’s a Joe Blow lot on the side of the road then I’d really look into how they do business before I deal with them.”

Warning Signs

The musty smell isn’t the only possible hint of a flooded car. Check the car’s lights and reflectors. If they contain moisture, it is possible the car has been submerged. But the real evidence will likely be on the inside of the car.

  • Inspect the gauges on the dashboard. Again, moisture or other residues are what you are looking for. Test the operation of each gauge as well as the lighting of the gauges and the driver warning lights. They should all be operational.
  • Test everything in the car that’s electrical in nature: all switches, controls like headlights, turn signals, climate control system, stereo and any 12v auxiliary outlets. All should be operational. Check the visible wiring under the dashboard for brittleness and loss of flexibility.”If the water got high enough to get into the computers or modules, which are mounted under the seats, long-term they’ll start having problems as the moisture will cause a corrosion of the wires in the modules,” Bratton said.
  • Rust is another giveaway. Interior screws or bolts with visible rust indicate a water issue, Bratton explained. Also check the engine compartment and trunk for signs of rust as well. Any metal that is exposed – not painted or coated – and has been in contact with a significant amount of water will be rusted.
  • The padding underneath the carpet could be an indication as well since it tends to hold moisture for a long time. A visible water line could be another sign, but that would require pulling off the door panels.”If I suspected it was potentially water damaged I pull the carpet up and feel underneath it and see if the padding under the carpet has been replaced or if it feels wet,” Bratton said. “Normally we don’t pull carpets unless there’s a musty smell, because that’s hard to get rid of.”

Other potential signs include sand or grit or mud that seems to be embedded into any cracks, crevices or in the upholstery itself.

If you find any of these issues on a car, it has likely been flooded. We’d recommend you walk away, regardless of the potential savings, unless the car has been completely refurbished. If it has been, any reputable dealer would let you know upfront the history of the car with details on how it was restored. If they are hiding or denying any knowledge, despite the evidence to the contrary, then they simply do not deserve your business.

Finally, check out our visual guide to inspecting a car for evidence of flooding. It offers an easy checklist of tips of where to look and what to look for to help you determine if a vehicle has been involved in a flood.

Four shocking insurance scams

With insurance fraud costing us all £50 a year, we reveal four of the most egregious cases uncovered by investigators.

Each week, insurance companies uncover a massive 2,670 cases of fraud worth £19 million, according to the Association of British Insurers (ABI).

On an individual level, bogus insurance claims add £50 to the average policyholder’s annual insurance bill.

False home insurance claims are the most common type of fraud with 71,000 cases uncovered during 2011. Conversely, car insurance fraud is the most costly and the insurance industry saved £541 million in 2011 by exposing 45,000 illegitimate claims.

While insurance fraud may be alarmingly common, some cases are more shocking than others. Here are four of the more extreme cases published alongside the ABI’s research.

CASE ONE: The weakest necks in Europe

It’s not difficult to believe that one person could be liberal with the truth – or even two or three, but this case of fraud involved a group of 30 men.

Alleging they were on the way to a greyhound racing meeting, the fraudsters hired a coach as transport.

During the journey, they staged an accident involving the car behind and later all claimed to be afflicted with whiplash – though the driver didn’t feel the impact at all.

Upon investigation, it became apparent that the group hadn’t booked any tickets for the supposed outing and four men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit fraud.

According to the ABI, whiplash is the largest factor accounting for the rising cost of car insurance claims. In fact, the high incidence of such claims has given rise to an industry joke that Brits have the weakest necks in Europe.

CASE TWO: The most unlucky family in the UK?

While we all have spells of misfortune, one family tested the boundaries of credibility by putting in more than 100 claims for damage to their home.

The majority of these claims involved alleged storm damage to roofs and damage to walls caused by untraceable vehicles.

Upon discovery of the fraud, the culpable family members each received 15 months in prison.

CASE THREE: The £3.2 million scam

If you thought the coach scam involving 30 people was a large, coordinated scheme, this case uncovered by Bedfordshire Police and the Insurance Fraud Bureau is even more shocking.

The investigation exposed a staged accident gang that it is believed was involved in 180 ‘crash for cash’ accidents, which were associated with 230 insurance claims, worth £3.2 million.

As a result of the investigation, 37 people were sent to prison.

CASE FOUR: Photo forgery

After cutting his thumb during a trip to the gym, one man attempted to put in a claim for a more serious injury. His proof? He attempted to substantiate his claim with a photograph he had downloaded from the internet.

Perhaps he didn’t realise that insurers are likely to require something a little more concrete before paying out.

Crackdown on fraudsters

To accompany the research, the ABI has also announced the launch of the Insurance Fraud Register, which will contain profiles of people who have made illegitimate claims.

Otto Thoresen, ABI's Director General, said: ‘The industry makes no apologies for its zero tolerance approach to insurance fraud. Honest customers are sick of footing the bill for insurance cheats, through higher insurance premiums.

‘The development of the Insurance Fraud Register […] reinforces the strong message that insurance cheats can expect difficulties in obtaining future insurance, credit and other financial products, as well as getting a criminal record.’

Many organizations today cannot do without the use of their vans in their daily business operations.  A current and valid insurance policy is a must have for all vehicles including vans irrespective of their shape, sizes and purpose of use.

Due to the expensive nature of certain insurance policies, a huge majority of small businesses now under insure their vans in order to save money on their policies. Finding an inexpensive van insurance premium can most times become a daunting task if you do not know how and where to find it- below are great tips you can adopt when searching for low- cost van insurance premium for your business- http://www.cheapestvaninsurance.org/

If you're looking to renew the current policy or wanting to buy a new one, you can increase your chances of finding a cheaper premium by conducting research that would help you unveil the cheapest and best quote for you or your business.  The way we search for information has been significantly changed by the development of the internet, as such, it provides the perfect starting point for any van insurance query you might want to conduct.

Take Time Out To Begin Your Research Online

Typically, not a lot of individuals and businesses posses the time and patience to be calling insurers one by one to obtain quotes with the view of saving money on their premium. Using the services of a van insurance comparison website is an ideal way of saving you time and money because they compare quotes from dozens of van insurance companies to bring you the cheapest quotes. Upon filling a form on the comparison site, your details and information is then passed unto other insurers who will then provide their quotes based on your requirements within minutes.

Typically, not all quotes offered by these insurers will meet your budget expectations, but there are other insurance companies that will give you some of the best market rate at comprehensively reduced price. Upon settling for your chosen quote and insurer, endeavor to give the insurer a quick call to discuss and confirm the details of your chosen quote before buying your policy online.

Calling the insurer after settling for your chosen quote to see whether they can reduce it further is the best way to obtain the best deal possible.  This way, you could also comprehend whats contained within the policy itself- it's like hitting two birds with one stone. From the new details you've given, the insurers should be able to give you an adjested and final premium based on the new piece of information you've given. http://www.cheapestvaninsurance.org/pay-as-you-go-van-insurance-monthly-van-insurance-1-month-van-insurance.html

Call Up Your New Insurers To Discuss The Policy

In comparison to all other coverage for homes, cars, travel and health insurance, the van insurance is more of a specialist type. Apparently, not all insurance companies are able to returns quotes for specialists type of cover like for van insurance . Most times motorists just prefer to take the easiest option by settling for what they've been used to, in particular, things they've been familiar with in the past . Nonetheless, if you're serious about obtaining cheaper premiums you might just want to go deeper.

Being contented with your current premium does not really stop you from shopping around and obtaining a cheaper quote elsewhere. Whatever means you decide on using for finding cheap van insurance quotes, whether through comparison websites or contacting insurers directly, obtaining cheap quotes couldn't be any easier.

Obtaining a cheap quote from one insurance company is often a good way to get other prospective insurers to beat their lowest quote from a competitor. These insurers are under no pressure to change their quotation, some might not even consider changing it, it simply establishes a medium of at least communication with the added chance of reducing your premium even further without amending your policy.

Refining Your Van Insurance

Now, you should be in a better position to figure out important add-on and non vital stuffs within your policy in order to settle for the best possible premium available. For instance, there might be additional add-on included in your policy that includes: European coverage, third party injury protection cover, legal expenses cover and many more- no need including them in your policy if you don't need them.

A policy thoroughly examined to strip of any unwanted extras and left with only the primary cover and protection needed. Increasing your level of excess to an unscrupulous amount can be tempting, but always remember that should you be involved in an accident your insurers would request that you pay up the entire amount before your vehicle can be repaired. Don't be surprised at how much you would be saving upon disregarding the optional extras.

Lessons to be learned here is that to get a cheap van insurance premium, you'll have to be prepared to fold your sleeves and dig dirty. Irrespective of you conducting researches that involves you calling your prospective insurer or getting quotes from numerous insurers, there are many different choices you could make to get you the right outcome.
